Update to Steering Committee - October 4, 2006
Mr. Wallace gave an update on the Electronic Data Depository, and stated that the common drive is presently a lot cleaner. He explained that the size of the common drive has increased since their work started. He stated that a file that was set up with items that did not seem to be used, if not asked for, would be deleted. Mr. Wallace stated that there is no position responsible for policing this drive. He stated that the “whack or not” file will be deleted by the end of the year. There is confidential data on the drive that should not be there. Dr. Jensen asked that this be brought up at the next Steering Committee meeting. Technical restrictions need to be addressed. He stated that they have sat down with net techs and they were told that it couldn’t be done in the way they wanted it to be done, and that it would require a lot of time to administer. There needs to be a person who says what should be on the drive. Mr. Smith stated that if there is something to get done, it can get done. It may just take more at this point.
